Additional Information
Jes is another young Dane who has made a name for himself on the Swedish Match Tour. Gram-Hansen joined the Tour in its first year, 2000, as a 29-year-old, and has steadily progressed up the rankings.
Twice Jes has finished third overall on the Tour, in 2001-’02 and 2002-’03. Additionally, he finished runner-up in the 2002 Match Racing World Championship.
Jes started sailing in 1983 at the age of 11 in the Optimist dinghy. Nine years later he started match-racing. In 1991 and ’92 he was the Danish National Champion in the 10-Meter one-design class, the X-99, a 32-footer from X-Yachts in Denmark.
Since 1992 Gram-Hansen has taken on match-racing and his biggest success so far was second place in the World and European championships. Gram-Hansen has become a steady performer on the tour, one who must be considered a threat at every regatta he enters.
Along with sailing, Jes likes cycling, tennis, motor racing and likes to watch Goran Ivanesivic tennis matches.
