Additional Information
Olympian Kelvin Harrap grew up in Napier, a city in Hawke’s Bay famous for its vineyards, orchards and art deco architecture - but not so well-known for its sailors. Nevertheless, Harrap has become one of New Zealand’s outstanding helmsmen. He has sailed in two round-the-world races, in the Soling class at the Atlanta Olympics and competes on the world match racing circuit.
Kelvin received a Geography degree from the University of Auckland, and has spent most of his post graduate career on the move from one part of the world to another.
Since 1993, he has been a part of four America’s Cup campaigns, sailed two round-the-world races, competed in the Atlanta Olympic Games, and won a world championship in an offshore one-design class.
