Additional information
Björn started match-racing as a helmsman in 1997 after four years as a trimmer for Finnish match-racer Henrik Lundberg. The team has seen their ranking improve ever since, climbing to 4th in 2007 from 103rd in 1997.
Team Hansen consists of amateur sailors who all have regular jobs and sails only in their free time. Limited free time means that the numbers of team members is huge compared to most competitors. Only in 2007 the team consisted of 19 persons
Hansen is currently running the Match Race Center at Gamla Stans Yacht Sällskap in Stockholm, Sweden but he is living in Mariehamn at the Åland Islands, a five hour ferry trip from Stockholm. In Mariehamn Hansen is living with his fiancé Pia and 4-year old daughter Livia.
