Sailing on the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Elba offers a variety of conditions, requiring a good all-around boat for short-handed performance. For the Elba Cup, the boat of choice is the IMX 40.
Designed by X-Yachts of Denmark, the IMX 40 is a modern Racer/Cruiser from a boatbuilder with a lineage of successful designs. X-Yachts was founded in 1979 when designer and part owner Niels Jeppesen created his first design, the Banner 30. Since then Jeppesen has produced a number of outstanding custom racers as well as family oriented Racer/Cruisers totaling more than 3,700 yachts.
The IMX 40 debuted in 2000, and nearly 100 yachts have been built. The design has won numerous races around the world.
