UPDATE 27 // May 16, 2005, 1619 hours
Peter Gilmour (AUS) has won his second consecutive Match Race Germany with a 2-1 victory over Jesper Bank (DEN). Gilmour won the final race showdown when he started to windward of Bank and rode him out to the port-tack layline to the windward mark. Bank only trailed by 10 seconds at the mark, but Gilmour opened up a slightly larger margin at the leeward mark, which he maintained for the championship.
The win was Gilmour’s sixth on the Swedish Match Tour and put him in a tie with Russell Coutts and Magnus Holmberg for most career victories.
UPDATE 26 // May 16, 2005, 1548 hours
Jesper Bank has tied the Final of Match Race Germany against Peter Gilmour. A third and deciding flight is due to start shortly. Ed Baird defeated Bertrand Pacé 2-0 in the petit final to place third overall, with Pacé fourth.
UPDATE 25 // May 16, 2005, 1445 hours
Peter Gilmour has opened a 1-0 lead over Jesper Bank in the final of Match Race Germany after winning the first flight. Similarly, Ed Baird leads Bertrand Pacé 1-0 in the petit final. The winner of both series will be the first to 2 points.

A 5- to 7-knot westerly wind has filled on Lake Constance and the finalists and petit finalists are on the water hoping to conduct racing.

UPDATE 23 // May 16, 2005, 1125 hours
The Semifinal Round of Match Race Germany has been canceled. Sufficient winds for racing failed to materialize by the 1100 deadline.
Peter Gilmour (AUS), of Pizza-La Sailing Team, and Jesper Bank (DEN), of United Internet Team Germany, have advanced to the final. They’re scheduled to sail a first-to-2 points series. They’ve agreed to race in winds as light as 4 knots. Ed Baird (USA), of Team Alinghi, will square off against Bertrand Pace (FRA), of BMW Oracle Racing, for 3rd and 4th, also a first-to-2 points series.
The deadline for racing is 1600 hours.
UPDATE 22 // May 16, 2005, 0840 hours
The final day of Match Race Germany has arrived, but the wind doesn’t seem to care. Once again Lake Constance resembles a looking pond rather than a racing venue. The Semifinal and Final rounds are scheduled for today, but amendments to the sailing instructions have added flexibility to the schedule.
The semis pit Peter Gilmour (AUS), of Pizza-La Sailing Team, against Bertrand Pace (FRA), of BMW Oracle Racing, and Jesper Bank (DEN), of United Internet Team Germany, against Ed Baird (USA), of Team Alinghi.
The hope is to complete both rounds as best-of-three series. But if the semis haven’t started by 1100 hours they’ll be canceled and the top two skippers from the quarterfinal round robin, Gilmour and Bank, will advance to the final. If the semis have started but aren’t completed by 1300 hours, they’ll be canceled and Gilmour and Bank will advance to the final. No starts will be held after 1600 hours.
