ABOUT STAGE 2
The seawall at Skovshoved gives fans a front row view of competitive match-racing. (©Swedish Match T The Danish Open celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Co-hosted by the Royal Danish Yacht Club and the Royal Match Race Center, the Danish Open is held out of Skovshoved Harbor, about 20 minutes north of Copenhagen. Skovshoved Harbor is also home of the Royal Match Race Center. Founded in 1990 to help develop a generation of match-racers, the center has a fleet of DS 37s that are available for use year round. In its time the center has trained more than 230 sailors, some of which have made their way to America’s Cup syndicates as helmsmen and trimmers.

AT STAGE 1
Chris Dickson (NZL), BMW ORACLE Racing, took the early lead in the World Championship points race with a victory at the season-opening Portugal Match Cup two weeks ago. Dickson defeated Sweden’s Magnus Holmberg of the Victory Challenge 3-2 for his first career Tour win. Dickson, Holmberg and Peter Gilmour (3rd) aren’t entered in Denmark, but 4th-placed Jes Gram-Hansen (a two-time Danish Open winner) of Mascalzone Latino – Capitalia Team is.

ABOUT THE WORLD TOUR
Skippers earn points towards the world championship at the nine events of the World Tour and the highest scoring skipper at the end of the season is the ISAF Match Racing World Champion. The World Champion wins a BMW partner and official car BMW and a cash bonus from the World Tour.

The World Tour is sanctioned by ISAF, sailing’s world governing body. World Tour sponsors include Sebago (Rockford, Mich.), the Official Footwear Supplier, Travel Places (West Sussex, England), the Official Travel Partner, and Wedgwood (Stoke-on-Trent, England), the Official Trophy Sponsor.
