Governor of Gyeonggi Province, Kim Moon Soo joined Hwaseong City Mayor, Chae in – Seok and Alpari World Match Racing Tour Executive Chairman Patrick Lim in welcoming the world’s best sailors to the opening day of the Korea Match Cup. He said, “With every year, the Korea Match Cup event on the Alpari World Match Racing Tour is growing fast and our goal is to go out into the sea and into the world to find new friends. We welcome the sailors and the spectators.”
The event, which is run alongside the Korea International Boat Show, drew spectators from far and wide as the Gyeonggi Province continues to build its reputation as one of the premier marine leisure destinations in the world.
An opening ceremony which featured a skipper parade, martial arts exhibition and brass band, was attended by an excited crowd in the modern Jeongok Harbour on Korea’s west coast.

Racing will be held in Jeongok and Jebu which are part of the Gyeonggi Province. The West Coast of the Gyeonggi Province offers a coastline that stretches over 350 kilometres and tidal flat areas that encompass more than 150 square kilometres, the West Coast is an ecological treasure trove. It provides an ideal foundation for the marine recreation and tourism industry that is developing rapidly in Korea.
The Korea Match Cup is being held in conjunction with the Korea International Boat Show. Through these events, the province aims to foster the growth of the maritime leisure industry within the Republic of Korea, Northeast Asia and throughout the world.
