Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia – 7 December, 2012: The Eco Terengganu Festival returned to the Monsoon Cup yesterday with its three-day 2012 programme being officially launched by Dato’ Toh Chin Yaw, Terengganu Chairman of Industry, Trade and Environment.
The event, which was conceived by EcoKnights and Monsoon Cup organiser, T-Best Events, with the support of Terengganu State Government and 1Progres (Program Green Solutions), aims to engage and educate environmentally-conscious children and demonstrate the positive effects of ‘going green’.
Covering a range of activities, from recycled art to quizzes, educational workshops and eco movie screenings, the subject of environmental consciousness is at the forefront of everything.
Dato’ Toh commented on his pleasure at seeing a pathway for more environmentally-friendly programmes to be introduced, saying: "Last year, when we were discussing the possibilities of launching Eco Terengganu in conjunction with the Monsoon Cup, I thought it was very fitting. With the tagline, ‘Where Heritage Embraces Nature’, this is exactly what Terengganu represents. And Eco Terengganu teaches us how to take steps to protect our beautiful beaches, exotic islands, and natural environment from being destroyed.”
