Simone Ferrarese began to sail at the age of five and after testing his mettle on the youth circuit and in the Olympic classes, he decided to put his focus into the match racing circuit where he won the Dubai Youth Trophy in 2006.

He hasn’t looked back since then and, at the age of 23, he is one of the youngest skippers at the top table of match racing where he sits in 17^th place in the ISAF Match Race World Rankings. Ferrarese was twice runner-up at the Match Racing Italian Championship and can boast several key titles including the Ficker Cup and the Master de Espana.

His Ferrarese Racing Team will look to continue the rich vein of form they showed in 2011 when they achieved semi-final spots in both the Open de Espana Match Race in Spain and Sails of White Nights in Russia.
