The six-day Chicago Match Cup will take place at Navy Pier, the number one tourist destination in Chicago from August 6th through 11th, 2013. The natural amphitheater of the Chicago waterfront framed by Navy Pier provides the ideal stadium for spectators- sailing enthusiasts and general public alike; to enjoy this all the racing action. Running alongside the Chicago Match Cup will be the magnificent Tall Ships for attendees to view, board, and cruise throughout the week. About the Chicago Match Race Center:
Founded in 2009 to promote and grow the sport of match race sailing by WMRT champion Bill Hardesty & Chicago entrepreneur and sailor Don Wilson. As part of its mission to provide the highest-level match racing training facility for professional and amateur sailors in the US, CMRC has a fleet of Tom 28 MAX sailboats along with Elliott 6M class boats. Also on the schedule for 2013 at the Chicago Match Race Center are two Grade 2 events and five Grade 3 events including the 101st Richardson Trophy, the oldest match racing trophy in North America that is not a challenge cup.
